The Andhra Pradesh High Court has expressed its anger at the CBI Joint Director Lakshmi Narayana for making innumerable phone calls to the media.
Questioning him about the need for the investigating agency to make so many calls to the media, the court has directed the JD to submit his explanation by July 9.
One Bhavanam Bhushan has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the phone calls made by the JD to the media. Admitting the petition the high court has issued notice to Lakshmi Narayana.
The petitioner sought action against the JD charging him of misleading the court by informing it earlier that he had not talked to the media, while his call list now disclosed proved otherwise. He said by stating that he had not spoken to the media, the JD had misled the court and this was tantamount to contempt of the court.
The petitioner has made the Union Home Secretary, CBI Joint Director, Eenadu group chairman Ramoji Rao, Andhra Jyothy MD Radha Krishna and BSNL GM as the respondents.
He said in his petition that talking to the media on the investigation was against the manual of the agency. He said innumerable phone calls were made and received between the JD and representatives of Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy. He has also mentioned about the SMS messages between them. The petitioner has said that the JD was not authorized to speak to any one excepting his higher authorities on matters pertaining to cases under investigation.
